My journey
Following a diving accident in 1992, I started painting pottery with my mouth after a friend presented the idea. I never thought it would become what it has. With generous guidance from Mr. Eric Riechard, I have explored many methods for designing and embellishing functional works in stoneware. Mouth painting and tableware are the foundation of many of my creative projects.
Upon graduation from college, I volunteered at my local district attorney’s office for 10 years . While recovering from a nephrectomy in 2014, I refocused my intention on creating. Around this time, technology presented an app that allows me to shape pottery on a virtual wheel. With the app in play, I can show Eric a design instead of just giving him a verbal version of my vision.
Then, in 2022, after binge-watching bob ross, I decided to try my hand (actually mouth) at landscapes. Inspired by the mountains, I use my mouth-stick and I pad to create a variety of original images. When complete, these images are rendered on 1.3 mm high-density paper board.
I enjoy life outdoors and have included a page called accessible outdoors, it highlights accessible locations I have visited.
Like all humans, I have seen soaring victory and abysmal defeat. It has been my honor to stand on the shoulders of the best and the brightest. Without them, this would not be possible! Special thanks to Richard, Pam, David, eric, nick and everyone who has lifted me up.
